German car concern Volkswagen paid a fine of €9 million to the German prosecutor's office to stop the case of the "diesel scandal" against Volkswagen CEO Herbert Diss and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Hans-Dieter Pettsch. The prosecutor's office accused Diss and Pettsch of knowingly withholding from shareholders information about the software installed on the cars to undercut the levels of harmful substances in exhaust fumes.
