Volkswagen intends to use an open source approach to refine elements of its automotive operating system. This will create opportunities for partnership, which will allow to use the competence of third-party developers. "This approach is almost unimaginable for traditional car manufacturers. But it is a key opportunity for a breakthrough," says Christian Senger, a member of the Volkswagen board of directors responsible for digital services and software.
