Google is looking for alternative routes for laying the Internet cable Pacific Light Cable Network from Los Angeles to Hong Kong via the Philippines and Taiwan. The US Department of Justice recommended not to connect to Hong Kong because of the existing threat from Chinese intelligence services. Now, according to experts, the end point of the route may be Singapore. The project is estimated at $300 million. Part of the cable has already been laid.
