Facebook increased to $650 million in a lawsuit to settle a class action lawsuit filed by Illinois residents over the use of facial recognition technology. In January, the company agreed to only $550 million. The lawsuit was filed in 2015, and in 2019 the court dismissed Facebook's appeal in this case, jeopardizing the company's ability to pay billions of dollars.
