The FDA has approved Roche's Evrysdi product for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy - SMA, in adults and children from 2 years. The study was attended by 450 tested infants. After a series of clinical trials, 41% of the study participants were able to sit unattended, 90% were able to breathe without constant ventilation of the lungs and reached the age of 15 months, 81% were able to live without constant ventilation until 28 months. When released on the market, it will be the only SMA medicine that can be used at home.
