Global Telecom Holding, a subsidiary of VEON, has appealed against the refusal of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes on its $1.8 billion claim against the Government of Canada. The company believes that the Canadian authorities violated the bilateral Canada-Egypt Friendship Agreement, causing it economic damage, in particular, forcing it to sell its stake in the Canadian operator Wind at a significantly lower price.
