Berkshire Hathaway acquired just over 5% in each of the five leading Japanese trading companies: Itochu, Marubeni, Mitsubishi, Mitsui & Co. and Sumitomo. Based on closing prices on August 28, 2020, the stake in each of the companies is estimated at about $6.25 billion. In the future, Berkshire may increase its stake to 9.9%.
