Tesla has started Phase 3 of its virtual power plant deployment in South Australia. In the near future the company will connect 3000 more houses equipped with solar panels and Tesla Powerwall batteries. Tesla's investment in this phase will amount to $18 million. The virtual power plant is a system for storing and distributing solar electricity to connected users. Households receive the systems free of charge and pay more than 20% less for electricity from them than from the regular grid.
