RusHydro has commissioned the Cherekskaya HPP in Kabardino-Balkaria. The capacity of the new HPP is 23.4 MW, and it will generate 87 million kWh per year for the republic's scarce energy system. Station on the Cherek River in the Terek basin has become the fourth stage of the region's largest energy complex, the Nizhne-Cherek cascade of hydroelectric power plants, which also includes the Kashkhatau, Aushigerskaya and Zaragizhskaya HPPs with a total capacity of 155.7 MW.
