MTS will launch 5G base stations on satellites by 2030

MTS has launched a project to install 5G base stations on low-orbit satellites that will directly transmit the signal to the phone. This will make it possible to provide mobile communication services where there is no coverage of terrestrial cellular networks. According to preliminary estimates by MTS, putting 400 satellites into orbit will require at least ₽300-350 billion in investments. The commercial launch of the low-orbit communications system is scheduled for 2030.
