Shareholders of Zaimer have approved changing the type of microfinance organization from a microfinance company (MFC) to a micro-credit company (MCC) in order to defer the requirements for identifying borrowers using biometrics. MFC is required to identify borrowers using biometrics from March 1, 2026, and the MCC – from March 1, 2027. However, according to market experts, the Unified Biometric System is not yet ready for widespread use by businesses, as it contains insufficient data.
