Marketplaces might face a new import tax

Ministry of Industry and Trade plans to introduce a tax for sellers of imported non-food products through marketplaces. Currently, marketplaces import large quantities of goods under the guise of individual orders from individuals. By all accounts, this is a commercial shipment, but the product is not subject to duties, VAT, or excise duty. Cross-border trade accounts for 20-25% of marketplace turnover.
