New Russian medium-range MS-21 airliner made its first flight with domestic PD-14 engines. Before that, the first samples of the aircraft were equipped with American PW1400G power plants. The developers believe that operating costs of the PD-14 will be 14-17% lower and life cycle cost of the engine will be 15-20% lower. Moreover, the MS-21 complies with the strict EU and ICAO standards by a margin of 50%, emitting 15-25% less CO2 per passenger seat than the currently operating aircraft.
