Operator Vimpelcom, owned by VEON, will direct more than ₽1 billion to the development of a mobile network in St. Petersburg metro, said the head of the company Alexander Torbakhov. The company has already launched cellular communication in the tunnels of the Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya line of St. Petersburg subway, which is daily used by about 830 thousand people. The network has been deployed with a view to future expansion to 5G standard.
