A U.S. federal court overturned the Bureau of Land Management's permit for ConocoPhillips to develop the Willow field in Alaska. The judge motivated his decision by the fact that the agency did not include greenhouse gas emissions from foreign oil consumption in its environmental analysis. The field contains about 600 million barrels of oil. The company planned to start production in 2027 and produce up to 180,000 barrels a day. The cost of the project is estimated at $6 billion.
