CenterPoint Energy has launched a green hydrogen project in Minneapolis. The 1 MW electrolyzer runs on renewable electricity. The unit can produce up to 432 kilograms of gaseous hydrogen per day, using about 2 gallons of water per minute. The water comes from the city's water supply and undergoes a high degree of purification. The low concentration hydrogen produced is suspended in the natural gas distribution system.
