Japanese companies with stakes in Sakhalin-2 intend to remain in the project after the change of the operator, the Financial Times reported, citing an unnamed official Japanese source. Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree transferring Sakhalin-2 to a Russian company to be created by the government. After that, foreign shareholders of the project may within a month apply to the government with a request to transfer their shares in the created company in proportion to their shares in the former operator.
