Qualcomm, Ericsson and the French aerospace company Thales plan to launch a network of 5G satellites into earth orbit. NTN's 5G deployment will provide full coverage of the Earth with a broadband data network, including geographic extremes and remote areas where ground coverage is lacking. The companies will soon begin initial testing in a simulated space environment in France, where most of Europe's space industry is based.
