Samsung Electronics began construction of a new semiconductor R&D complex in South Korea. The 109,000-square-meter R&D center is located in Goheung, south of Seoul. It will conduct cutting-edge research on next-generation devices and processes for memory and system chips, as well as develop new technologies. Samsung will invest ₩20 trillion, or $15 billion, in the R&D center over the next six years to achieve leadership in microchip technology.
