MTS is gradually shutting down its 3G mobile networks as subscribers abandon outdated phones without 4G support. Freed up frequencies in the 2100 MHz band the operator is transferring them for use in the 4G standard. Currently 4G 2100 MHz network has been deployed in 33 regions of Russia. As a result, the speed of mobile Internet increased by 30%, and the capacity of the networks themselves - by 28%. By the end of 2023, major work is planned to replace 3G with 4G in at least 14 more regions.
