European Union has extended the permission to supply oil from the Sakhalin-2 project without observing the price ceiling mechanism until June 28, 2024 to meet Japan's energy security needs. European Union initially exempted oil supplies from Sakhalin-2 from the eighth package of sanctions. At first, the exemption was valid until June 5, 2023, then it was extended until March 31, 2024. USA also excluded oil supplies from the project to Japan from the sanctions, last time - also until June 28, 2024.
