EU postpones introduction of a mechanism for tracking Russian diamonds

European Union postponed the introduction of a mandatory tracking mechanism for Russian diamonds until January 1, 2026. Sanctions on imports of Russian rough and polished diamonds have been in effect since January 2024. From March 1, the restrictions apply to polished diamonds of 1 carat cut outside Russia, and from September 1 - to stones from 0.5 carats. However, the launch of the tracking system is constantly postponed.
