Norilsk Nickel closes deal to exit Nkomati joint venture in South Africa

MMC Norilsk Nickel has closed a deal to sell 50% of the Nkomati joint venture to its South African partner, African Rainbow Minerals Limited. Nkomati's assets include a deposit of interspersed copper-nickel sulfide ores, an underground mine, and a quarry. Mining and production activities were discontinued in March 2021. Since 2021, the mine has been in conservation and reclamation mode.
