Marketplaces will be responsible for the quality of goods from abroad

Rospotrebnadzor, the Ministry of Economic Development, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade by 2028 will develop a mechanism for the subsidiary liability of marketplaces for the low-quality goods of foreign sellers. The Russian law "On Consumer Rights Protection" does not apply to relations with such sellers. In disputes with them, international norms and laws of the seller's country are applied, which significantly reduces the ability of consumers to protect their rights when purchasing low-quality goods.
