RusHydro has completed the replacement of a hydrogenerator and put hydrounit No. 8 of the Volga Hydroelectric Power Station into operation. With the launch of hydrounit No. 8, the Volga Hydroelectric Power Station's modernization program is nearing its completion. To date, 21 hydrogenerators and all 22 hydroturbines have been upgraded. Last hydrogenerator, the 22nd, remains to be replaced. New hydrounits are more efficient, resulting in an increase in the hydroelectric power station's capacity from 2,541 MW to 2,734 MW. In the future, the station's capacity will increase to 2,744.5 MW.
