KAMAZ automaker is working on developing passenger transport with an automated driving system. Unmanned buses may appear in Moscow, the Moscow Region, St. Petersburg, Tatarstan, and the Far East in experimental mode.

Sales of new KAMAZ trucks weighing more than 16 tons in Russia increased by 19% year‑on‑year in July, while the market in this segment declined by 4%, according to data from the Autostat agency. In July, 1,389 vehicles were sold. At the same time, the entire Russian market in this segment amounted to 3,498 units in July.

Kamaz's loss under RAS for 6 months of 2026 amounted to ₽13.9 billion, down 33.2% from ₽20.8 billion in the previous year. Revenue decreased by 0.3% to ₽127.2 billion against ₽127.6 billion a year earlier.

Kamaz automotive concern plans to start testing driverless trucks in 2028. The company also anticipates expanding unmanned transportation within the CIS. However, the lack of prepared infrastructure poses a challenge, despite the potential demand from carriers.
