Volkswagen is going to sell a minority stake in the U.S. electric car charging business Electrify America to Siemens, sources told The Wall Street Journal. The amount of the deal could be $2 billion.

Volkswagen has started production of ID.4 electric vehicles at its plant in Emden. In this way, the automobile company has expanded its capacity for producing electric cars to 1.2 million units per year. The investment in the refurbishment of the plant amounted to about €1 million.

Škoda Auto began production of battery systems for electric cars based on MEB Volkswagen Group in Mladá Boleslav. The company plans to produce 250,000 battery systems a year. Investments in the project amounted to €130 million. In addition to ŠKODA cars, the systems will be installed on Volkswagen, Audi and SEAT vehicles.

Volkswagen plans to resume production of SUVs and pickup trucks under the Scout brand in the U.S. starting in 2026. The new vehicles will be fully electric. Volkswagen will set up a separate company to create the SUVs. The amount of investment in the production of Scout electric cars will be about €100 million.
