Sony has developed an optical module for photo - and video cameras analyzing images using artificial intelligence. The chip responsible for image processing is already built into the module. The processor in the camera or phone does not have to analyze the picture by itself. Camera manufacturers will be able to buy the sensor in two packages: in the form of a chip without housing for JPY 10 thousand or assembled for JPY 20 thousand. Delivery of the version in the assembly is scheduled for June.
