Alibaba and the Swiss group Richemont will invest $1.1 billion in online luxury clothing store Farfetch to develop it in the growing Chinese market. It is expected that by 2025, the Chinese luxury goods market will account for half of global sales. Alibaba will launch sales channels for Farfetch on its Tmall Luxury Pavilion and Luxury Soho e-commerce sites. In addition, after receiving investments from Alibaba and Richemont, Farfetch will terminate its partnership with JD.com, which will continue to be its shareholder.
