Alibaba and the Swiss group Richemont will invest $1.1 billion in online luxury clothing store Farfetch to develop it in the growing Chinese market. Alibaba will launch sales channels for Farfetch on its e-commerce sites Tmall Luxury Pavilion and Luxury Soho. In addition, after receiving investments from Alibaba and Richemont, Farfetch will terminate its partnership with JD.com, which will continue to be its shareholder. JD.com invested $397 million in Farfetch in 2017, and in 2019 Farfetch integrated its trading platform in China with JD.com.
