Alcoa plans to restart Portland Aluminium, a joint venture with CITIC Nominees and Marubeni Aluminium, which was shut down in 2009. The total cost of the restart is expected to be about $28 million, of which Alcoa will invest $9 million. The restarted part of the smelter will have a capacity of 35,000 mtpa and is scheduled to be commissioned in Q3 2022.
