Rusal's expenses on purchasing alumina almost doubled in first half of the year, up to $675 million, due to loss of access to raw material supplies from its plants in Australia and Ukraine. It affected the cost of aluminum production, which rose by 33% to $2,028 per ton. However, the company sells the metal without a discount and at rather high prices: the average selling price of aluminum increased by 47%, to $3365 per ton.
