Toyota will invest JP¥400 billion to build battery production capacity for electric vehicles in a joint venture with Panasonic, Prime Planet Energy & Solutions, as well as in its own plants in Japan. To produce batteries at Toyota's U.S. plant in North Carolina, JP¥325 billion will be invested. With this investment, Toyota intends to increase its combined battery production capacity in Japan and the United States to 40 GWh.
