Alrosa suspends diamond sales due to weak demand

Alrosa suspended sales of rough diamonds for two months amid concerns about a decline in demand in international markets. Decision was made after receiving a request from India's Gem and Jewelry Export Promotion Council. Company believes that the suspension of sales will help prevent overstocking, especially as the Diwali festival in India approaches, when many manufacturers traditionally close down.
