Operator of the Sakhalin-2 project offers Chinese buyers to purchase 12 LNG cargoes per year for a period of 3-5 years. This is about 1 million tons of LNG, which is comparable to the volume of the offtake contract of Shell, which left the project. By reducing spot sales volumes in this way, Sakhalin-2 probably wants to insure itself in case of a further decline in gas prices, experts believe.
