Lukoil again failed to enter the RSSD project in Senegal. The company made an offer to buy one of the project participants, the Australian FAR Limited. However, its shareholders decided to sell their company to Woodside, the operator of the project. In summer 2020, Woodside prevented Lukoil from entering the Senegalese project by exercising its pre-emptive right to buy a 40% stake in Cairn Energy, which the Russian company wanted to acquire.
