Bayport Polymers, a parity joint venture between Total Energies and Borealis, put into commercial operation an ethane cracking unit at the Total Energies refinery in Port Arthur. The capacity of the unit is 1 million tons of ethylene per year. This gas will be supplied as feedstock to Baystar's existing polyethylene production facilities as well as to a new facility being built in Bayport, Texas. Investments in the project amounted to $2 billion.
