Novatek has sent force majeure notices to buyers for future liquefied natural gas supplies from Arctic LNG 2, sources told Reuters. Arctic LNG 2 project envisages the construction of three LNG production stages with a capacity of 6.6 million tons per year. First of them was planned to be launched by the end of the year, and shipments were to start in January 2024. However, on November 2, 2023, the U.S. Treasury Department added the project operator, Arctic LNG 2 LLC, to the sanctions list.
