RusHydro, Zarubezhneft, and the Government of the Kamchatka Territory signed a cooperation agreement at the Russian Energy Week forum to develop geothermal energy in the region. The main project is the 66.5 MW Mutnovskaya GeoPP-2. The companies have established a joint venture, Geothermal Energy, for exploration and design work. The project will receive regional government support and is expected to become one of Russia’s largest renewable energy facilities.
